L’Aquàrium de Barcelona takes part in a beach cleanup at Sant Sebastià Beach.

On Octobre 2nd, 2025, L’Aquàrium de Barcelona took part in a beach cleanup event at Sant Sebastià Beach, organised in collaboration with Anèl·lides – Marine Environmental Services and the Barcelona City Council.

The activity brought together 60 participants who actively contributed to the cleaning and preservation of Barcelona’s coastline.

Thanks to this collective effort, a total of 47 kg of waste was collected, including: 3,000 cigarette butts, 85 plastic bottles, 10 plastic packages, 74 metal cans.

By waste type, the totals were 13.65 kg of plastic, 4.5 kg of glass, and 28.9 kg of other materials.

This initiative is part of L’Aquàrium de Barcelona’s ongoing commitment to marine conservation and to raising public awareness about the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling to protect our oceans.

L’Aquàrium would like to thank everyone who took part and encourages continued collaboration towards a cleaner and more sustainable coastline.
